Veritas Home — FAQ

Honest Answers to
Your Important Questions.

Transparency is our policy. Here is everything you need to know about how we manage your property.

Frequently Asked Questions

General questions, financials & fees, tenants & leases, plus maintenance & inspections.

Why should I hire a property manager instead of doing it myself?

Self-management often costs more in the long run due to longer vacancies, legal mistakes, and undervalued rent. At Veritas Home, we treat your property as a business and use professional marketing to secure strong returns while helping you reclaim your time.

What types of properties do you manage?

We manage long-term rentals including condos, apartments, and landed homes, subject to location and unit condition.

How do you determine the rental price for my property?

We perform a comparative market analysis using real-time data from comparable properties in your area, balancing maximum monthly income with minimal vacancy time.

When do I get paid?

We collect rent on the 1st of the month. Once funds clear and any necessary bills are paid, owner disbursements are made on a consistent monthly cycle.

Do you charge a markup on maintenance invoices?

No. This is part of the Veritas promise. If a plumber charges $150, you pay $150. We believe it is unethical to profit from your property's repairs.

What happens if the property is vacant? Do I still pay a management fee?

No. We only get paid when you get paid. If your property is vacant, we are working hard to fill it, but we do not charge a monthly management fee during that time.

How do you handle security deposits?

Security deposits are held in strict compliance with local real estate laws. These funds belong to the tenant and are used only for damages or unpaid rent at the end of the lease.

How do you screen tenants?

We are rigorous. We review credit history, background information, employment verification, and previous landlord references to assess payment reliability and fit.

What happens if a tenant doesn't pay rent?

We have a strict collection policy. If rent is not received by the due date, we initiate contact immediately. If necessary, we handle the legal process on your behalf in compliance with the law.

Can I refuse to allow pets?

Yes, as the owner, you have the final say on pets. We can help you weigh the pros and cons based on your property and market demand.

How do you handle maintenance requests?

Tenants submit requests through our online process. We troubleshoot first to avoid unnecessary call-outs, then dispatch a vetted vendor if a repair is needed. For major repairs, we seek your approval first unless it is an emergency affecting safety or habitability.

Do you inspect the property?

Yes. We perform move-in and move-out inspections with detailed photos, and routine inspections based on the package you choose.
